FAQs

How long do vanilla beans last?

Vanilla beans can last up to two years if stored properly, but for the best flavor and freshness, you should plan to use them within eight months

Can I reuse vanilla beans?

Because a vanilla bean has a great deal of flavor, it can usually be reusedseveral timesbefore its aroma and taste are depleted. A great way to recycle a bean is to make vanilla sugar. Simply wash and dry the used bean thoroughly.

What’s the difference between Grade A and other vanilla beans?

Grade A beans are often referred to as 'gourmet' or 'prime' vanilla beans. They have a much higher moisture content than Grade B, or 'extraction grade' vanilla beans. As such, the flavor is going to be more diluted in a gourmet bean but it won't take nearly as long to transfer flavor to the dish.

The beans were supposed to be grade A, but they were dry and shriveled compared to ones I have bought at other companies. I would have expected these to be Grade B. The price was low, so I guess yoyu get what you pay for. If you are looking for a good price on Grade B beans for extract, buy the suoosed Grade A ones.
